KEHLER; Peter Eric

1955 ~ 2016

Peter Eric Kehler passed away, into the presence of his Lord, suddenly in Royal Columbian Hospital on September 8, at 11:48 pm as a result of a brain bleed which took his life, over a 5 day period of illness.  He was predeceased by his father Peter, and his father-in-law, also named Peter.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife Joyce, and his children Lisa (Erik) Warkentin, Jaime (Dave) Kennedy and David (Rachel) Kehler and his foster daughter Angela Mitchell Giesbrecht.  His devastated grandchildren, Isabel, Marin, Finn, Millicent, Dominik, Harris and Ronan, as well as his pseudo-grandchildren of the heart, Codie and Shayne Watkins, Rohan and Cairis Boychuk, Jon Hunter, Sophia, Max and Ariana Landis.  He also leaves his mother Tina Kehler, and his siblings Fred (Shirley), Paul (Karen), Carla, Ernie (Christina), Edward and Linda, as well as his mother-in-law Susie Harms, and his siblings in law, Fritz (Rich) Peters and Peter (Joanne) Harms, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, hunting and fishing companions.  He was born in Abbotsford, on February the 18th, 1955, the second child of Peter and Tina Kehler, graduated from MEI, and went on to be a licensed auto mechanic, specializing in VW's, and then began his own welding business, Mount Lehman Ornamental Iron. However, it was his magical relationships with his children and grandchildren and friends, which were his true strength. Children were drawn to him like a magnet and he spent hours with them, quadding, fishing, boating and hunting and teasing.  How we will all miss him! Peter's viewing will be on Thursday, September 22 at 7:00 - 8:00 pm at Highland Community Church on the corner of McMillan and High St. and the Memorial will be held on Friday, September 23 at 1:00 pm at Bakerview Church on Clearbrook Rd. with reception to follow. In view of the fact that Peter wore a suit, reluctantly, three times in his life; feel free to wear hunting camouflage to honour his free spirit, but also to wear anything else that makes you feel comfortable.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC, (Mennonite Central Committee), Ducks Unlimited or a charity of your choice.  We have been overwhelmed by the prayers, love and support of friends, relatives, and co-workers.  May God Bless you all.  Online condolences to the family may be made to: www.wiebeandjeskefh.com
