It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Pat. She passed away peacefully at age 79 in the Abbotsford B.C. hospital on July 6, 2009 after a severe fall. She is survived by her lovng husband Ivor Slater and her children Pamela (Neill) Clemens of Guelph, Julie (Jon) Wigley of Toronto, Noel (Jane) Sifton of Abbotsford, Eric (Debbie) Sifton of Nanaimo, Todd Sifton of Vancouver, her sister Jean (Dave) Watt of Comox, as well as grand- children and great grand- children. She was pre- deceased by her parents Bess and Frank Moore of Nilestown, ON., and her first husband Douglas Sifton. Pat dearly loved her family as well as travelling, cooking and gardening. She had a great mind and throughout her life she consumed books and knowledge from all sources. Pat grew up in Ontario and graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Honours English in 1952 and a Masters of Library Science in 1971. She taught Library technology at Fanshawe College prior to moving to Abbotsford. She developed the Library Technology Program at the Fraser Valley College and remained program head until her retirement in 1995. She has been honoured by the University of the Fraser Valley with the Pat Sifton Endowment Leadership Award. Donations may be made to UFV, 33844 King Road, Abbotsford, BC V2S 7M8. Interment will be at the Dorchester Union Cemetery on Sept. 19, followed by a memorial service.
