ENNS, Nikolai

Jan. 12, 1913 - Feb. 24, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather. He entered into the presence of his Lord Jesus at the age of 96 years. Nick was born on January 12, 1913 in Pordenau, Russia and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1926. It was in Beaverlodge, Alberta that he met and married Freda Braul on July 7, 1939. In 1946 they moved to Gem, Alberta and farmed there until 1958. Their next homes were in Chilliwack and then Abbotsford in 1989. Dad was ever blessed with a very outgoing personality and loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He willingly served the Lord in his church and community. He is survived by his sons Ed and Phil, his daughters Eleanor Kasdorf and Lil (Chris) Bartel; his grandchildren Karen (Craig) Mobius, Vikki (Paul) Bosa, Vern (Dee Brown) Kasdorf, Denise (Greg) Baier, Jeff Bartel, Glen (Kari) Bartel and 14 great grandchildren; sister Susie Thiessen and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Freda on February 17, 2009, daughter-in-law Deanna Enns and son-in-law Art Kasdrof. A Graveside service was held on Monday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. in Maclure Rd. Cemetery followed by a memorial service at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd. Abbotsford at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the M.C.C. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Menno Home for their loving care during the last few years.
