Maxwell Alexander Frances KIRKMAN

April 23, 2007

Maxwell Alexander Frances Kirkman was born February 14, 1916 to Frances Beaconsfield and Evelyn Kirkman, in Nevis, Alberta. He was the eldest of 5 children, Reg, Beryl, Bob and Gordie, all of whom predeceased him.

Max spent his formative years in Lougheed where the family moved in 1918, and wherever he and his family lived, Lougheed was his home. At the age of 23 he joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and shipped out to England and the European Theater. He was a proud veteran, and many of the men he served with became life long friends.

Shortly after his return from Europe, he married Anne Christina Johnson of Hardisty, whom he’d known since the age of 13. After 57 years of marriage, Anne passed away in 2004 at Abbotsford BC.

He was a loving husband, an exemplary father to Brent and Susan and proud to be grandfather to Kirk, Danny and Mitchell and great grandson Santiago. He dearly loved and was loved in return by his nieces and nephews and their ever growing families.

Through the years, Max shared his light and spirit with many and he will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
