CAMPBELL, Mavis Aileen (nee Jackson)

1921 ~ 2010

Died peacefully in her sleep in her 90th year, December 27. Loving wife of 61 years to Donald (predeceased, 2005) and mother to daughter Janet (predeceased 1995), sons Blair (Linda), Kent (Pam), Robert, grandmother to Sandy, Kelly, Jesse, Kaitlin, Alex, Brett, Evan, and great grandmother to Sydney, Mara, Seamus and Jack.

Mavis was born in Saint John, NB and raised in nearby Morna, NB. Following graduation from Saint John High and Vocational School, she joined the Canadian Navy to proudly serve her country as an original Visual Signalwoman, or "Wren". Following the war, Mavis settled in British Columbia with her new husband Donald and dedicated her life to raising her growing family.

Upon Donald's retirement, Mavis and Don split their time between Hemet, California and home in Abbotsford, BC, where she actively pursued her love of curling, square dancing, cribbage and serving in the local hospital auxiliary. She is greatly loved and will be tremendously missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Memorial Service will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford on Friday, January 7, 2011, 11 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Menno Hospital Foundation, Abbotsford or the Christine Morrison Hospice at Mission Memorial Hospital, Mission, would be appreciated. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the incredible staff at the Menno Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to their mother.
