MARY GIESBRECHT

January 23, 2004

Mary Giesbrecht, born in the Ukraine on November 11, 1914 to Heinrich and Susanne Derksen, was called to her heavenly home on January 23, 2004 with some of her children present.

She had been admitted to the MSA Hospital 4 weeks earlier.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years, Henry Giesbrecht Sr., resident of Menno Hospital, children Henry (Marty), Zena "Joy" (Larry) Locken, Mary, all of Abbotsford, and Helmut (Wendy) of Terrace, BC, grandchildren Terry (Rene) Giesbrecht, Dan (Leigh) Giesbrecht, Zena (Barry) DeFehr, Tim (Cari) Locken, Lynda (Robby) Behrends, Shelly (Tom) Giesbrecht, Shawn Giesbrecht (Tanya), 11 great-grandchildren, sister Liese Enns in Germany; sisters-in-law Mary and Helen Derksen, brothers-in-law Pete (Lena) Giesbrecht, Hans (Greta) Giesbrecht in Germany and many other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 29, at Woodlawn Funeral Home 2310 Clearbrook Road from 7 - 9 pm.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30, at 11:00 am in the Clearbrook M.B. Church with Pastors H. Ratzlaff and Jay Neufeld (ret.) officiating.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful Home-Care personnel, staff at the menno Pavilion and the compassionate nurses at the MSA Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. R. Pankratz for his time, patience and professional help.

In lieu of flowers, a Mary Giesbrecht Memorial Fund has been established. Donations may be designated to either St. Petersburg Christian University Student Fund or Word of Life Kenya Camp Ministry. Clearbrook MB Church will receipt all donations.
