Martha SCHMIDT

Martha, late of the Menno Home, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on May 7 in her 100th year. She was born on November 27, 1905 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota and emigrated with her family in 1906 to Langham, Saskatchewan.

She first professed her faith in Christ at age 16, which was followed by baptism the next year.

She married John Schmidt on November 18, 1928. Out of the union were born three sons and two daughters. She is predeceased by her parents, a brother Teddy in childhood, a sister Anna Regehr, her beloved husband John in 1991, a son Lorne in 1958, a daughter Ruby (Jake Janz) in 1961, and two grandsons, Richard Schmidt and Michael Schmidt.

Upon relocating to Abbotsford in 1991 she began to worship and fellowship at the Abbotsford Baptist Church. She loved her lord and lived for her family.

Left to mourn are Allan (Lois) of North Ban, Ontario, Jean (Wilmer) Neufeld of Abbotsford and Arthur (Josie) of Maple Ridge. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren Gordon Schmidt, Greg Schmidt, Lorne Schmidt, Andrew Schmidt, Bruce Janz, Cheryl Szostakiwsky, Doug Neufeld, Brian Neufeld and Jennifer Schmidt-Cowan.

Memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Abbotsford Baptist Church, Pastor Roger McClelland officiated.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Saskatoon.
