STEEGSTRA, Marlowe Paul

Feb. 17, 1957 - Apr. 11, 2010

On the eve of April 11, 2010, Marlowe was called from the arms of his most beloved bride into the arms of his most beloved Saviour Jesus. While his departure was sudden to us, we are proud that Marlowe has run the race with boldness, fought the fight with perseverance, and now in victory sings his songs of worship in the presence of his Saviour.

Born February 17, 1957 in Chilliwack BC, Marlowe was raised in Revelstoke BC and returned to the lower mainland in the mid-80's. After a whirlwind romance, Marlowe married Karen on August 27, 1988 - his deep love and affection for Karen was both inward and public, ever deepening. In his relationship with his many children, Marlowe taught by example that through hard work each member contributes to the needs of the home team. In particular, Marlowe fiercely protected and required unquestioned respect for his bride and their mom. Alongside this, Marlowe held deep love for and great pride in each child. Marlowe used music as his means of connecting with his heavenly Father, through playing the piano, and writing and singing worship songs expressing the cries of his heart. Marlowe would sing now, "It is well with my soul".

Recently predeceased by his niece Andrea and father Louis, Marlowe again has shown his leadership by being the first sibling to walk this path. Marlowe loved his family - we are profoundly saddened by his death and look forward to that day when we will join him in heaven. His family includes: Marlowe's soul mate and bride of 22 years Karen (nee Spyker), his precious children Nathaniel, Ariel, Micaiah, Axel, Peter, Safiya, Anastasia and Mahalia. Marlowe's mom Mary Steegstra, Karen's parents Ralph and Jane Spyker, siblings Kevin & Barb, Glendine & Tim Skagen, Bentley & Stella, Jolene & Bob Friesen, Maurice & Hieke Spyker, Andrea Spyker, Nancy Spyker-Krezymon, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A viewing will occur from 10:30 AM to11:30 AM, April 20, 2010 at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road A service honouring Marlowe's journey here and his continued life with Jesus will follow at 12:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marlowe may be made to the charity of your choice to alleviate human suffering.
