Marie SMALE

December 3, 2006

In loving memory of our mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Marie Smale (nee Butler) who died at home surrounded by love, in the presence of her family, after a valiant battle with cancer on December 3, 2006. Marie was born November 27, 1927 in Clair, Saskatchewan to Edward and Sara Elizabeth (nee Townend) Butler. Much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Mel; her beloved children, Tom (Debby), Sheryl (Ron), Brenda, Debbie, Jim (Melissa), Cathy (George) and by her adoring 13 grandchildren, Clint, Claire, Nicole, Jill, Ashlee, Melanie, Daniel, Matthew, Alex, Jordan, Kelsey, Taylor and Kaley; her brother Ernie (Marg) Butler and many extended family and friends. Throughout her life, Marie’s primary focus was spending her time with her family and friends. Marie traveled extensively with her family to the Philippines, Australia and lived in many small communities in British Columbia but always maintained Mission as her home. Marie was an active member of this community. She loved to curl, line dance, walk, play bridge and volunteer for various charities. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Please join us for a celebration of Marie’s life at St. Andrew’s United Church 7756 Grand St., Mission, on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 1:00 p.m.

“For it was not into our ears you whispered but into our hearts.”

Our sincerest thanks to mom’s friends and neighbors for their continued generosity, your kindness meant so much to Marie and her family. We would also like to thank the Home Care and Palliative team for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to the BC Cancer Agency.
