Maria Hendrica Van Luyn was born on July 12, 1933 in Hilversum, the Netherlands to Frederik Hendrik Van Luyn and Aletta Maria Van Soest. She passed away on October 9, 2020 in Abbotsford Regional Hospital at age 87.
She is survived by her 7 children Rudy (Linda), Willy, Fred (Susan), Rob (Annie), Rene (Nancy), Eric (Lisa) and Ria (Robin); 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to be born in 2021. She was predeceased by her husband Rudy and two granddaughters, Heather and Brittany.
Maria had a love for children her whole life. After raising her own seven children she worked for many years at the Delta Child Development Center in Ladner, first as a volunteer, and then, after earning her ECE certificate, as a preschool teacher working primarily with special needs children. In 1979 she was recognized for her efforts by winning a "Year of the Child and Family" award.
