DOERKSEN, Margaretta nee Dyck

Our Mother passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 22, 2009 at the Dr. Stuart Pavilion of the Mission Memorial Hospital in her 88th year. Margaret was born in the Plum Coulee area of Manitoba on October 3, 1921 and raised on the farm. She married Herman Doerksen on her birthday, October 3, 1940. Three children were born in Altona Manitoba, and in 1945, the family moved to Mission BC, where five more children were born.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Herman in 1985, and is survived by all eight children; Robert (Elizabeth), of Perth, Australia, Harold (Ruth) of Mission, Edgar (Theresa) of Victoria, Ron (Nancy) of Mission, Sheila (Rod) of Kamloops, Shirley (Jim) of Kamloops, Bruce (Chantal) of Prince George and Kathleen (Tim) of Prince George; 22 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; David Dyck (Katherine) of Winkler, MB, Cornelius Dyck of Plum Coulee, MB; one sister, Agatha Hildebrandt of Winkler, MB. Mother was a very loving and caring person, always ready and willing to help where needed. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends and has left behind many fond memories for all to remember her by.

A memorial service will be held at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mission on Saturday August 1, 2009 at 11:00am. Special thanks to the staff of the Dr. Stuart Pavilion for their kindness and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Health Care Auxiliary Society.
