Mabel Lorraine (Gossen)

1918 — 2005

Mabel passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2005 after a full and blessed life. She will be dearly missed by her husband Erdman, her 3 children Brenda (David), James (Vanessa) and Chris (Marianne), as well as her grandchildren, great grandchild and her many relatives and friends. On January 7, 1918 she was born in Langham, Saskatchewan to J.H. and Susan Gossen. She grew up in Hepburn, Saskatchewan the fourth of eight children. After completing "Normal School" she taught in rural Saskatchewan for 10 years before marrying Erdman Epp of Rosthern, Saskatchewan in 1949. Together they moved from Rosthern to Yorkton, Sask., then to Swan River, Manitoba and Red Deer, Alberta before settling in Abbotsford, British Columbia in 1969. Throughout her life, Mabel was strongly committed to her faith in Jesus Christ and she never missed an opportunity to pass it on to her family, her friends or anyone else who crossed her path. She exemplified her commitment by being a devoted wife and mother. As a young woman she taught school and worked in the church. Later on she worked as the national president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Gideon’s and was an active member of the Abbotsford and Mission Evangelical Free Churches. Many people were touched by the light of Jesus that shone through Mabel all her days. She was a model wife, mother, and woman of prayer. She will be missed but we know that she has gone to be with her beloved Lord. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 1:30 pm at the Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church on Marshall Road in Abbotsford. The Interment will follow at Maclure Road Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Gideon’s Memorial Bible Fund.
