Lydia Ann McCaughan

June 12, 1941 - October 31, 2019
It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Ann was born in Vita, MB to Henry and Lydia Rettaler. She was the oldest of four children. She was a good cook, baker, and was an excellent seamstress and knitter. She loved doing word puzzles and playing cards.
On Thursday, October 31st Ann passed away at Tabor Home. She leaves to mourn her husband Art McCaughan, daughters Nancy McCaughan and her husband Andre Plante, and Lori Maurer, and Barbara Schneider; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister Sheila Carnegie; twin brothers, Gary and Gordon Rettaler; many nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Lydia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Matsqui Lutheran Church, Matsqui, BC on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. The family welcomes you to share stories of love and laughter. In lieu of flowers we ask a donation to Matsqui Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to The BC Cancer Clinic - Abbotsford.
In tears we saw you sinking,
we watched you fade away.
You suffered much in silence,
you fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage
all along the way.
God saw you getting tired
when a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you and whispered,
"Come with Me."
So when we saw you sleeping so peaceful,
free from pain
we could not wish you back to suffer that again.
