Lucy passed away on August 17, 2006 at the Travellers Lodge, in Nanaimo, BC at the age of 91 with her family at her side. Lucy was born July 29, 1915 in Kelvington, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband, Hugo, in June, 1989. Lucy will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by her children, Sylvia (George) Schaffer, Faye (Sheldon) Smith, both of Nanaimo, BC and her son Larry (Jane) Schickerowsky of Fergus, Ontario; and by her grandchildren, Elaine Schaffer, Bryan (Darlene) Schaffer, Kevin (Kathryn) Smith, Kristina (Denis) Patenaude, Diane Schickerowsky, Dan  Schickerowsky and by her great-grandchildren; Kayla Smith, Kohen Smith, Jasmin Patenaude, Dakota Schaffer and several nieces and nephews who had a special place in their hearts for Auntie.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Nanaimo Travellers Lodge for their thoughtfulness and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 21, 2006 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 NewÂcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, B.C. Graveside service will be held at the Hatzic Cemetery (north of Mission, B.C.) at 2:00 p.m. on October 23, 2006. In lieu of Âflowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
