Loraine Helen (Falk)

(Mar.16, 1956 - Mar. 29, 2009)

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Loraine passed away quietly at home on Sunday, March 29, 2009. Loraine was predeceased by her parents, David B. and Margaret Falk, step-mother Helen Falk, sister Marlene Petkau, brother Edward Falk. Also her friend Betty Schumacher, Father-in-law Eddie Schumacher and her best friend Janice (Fentie) Newberger.

Loraine is survived by her loving husband Kim, sons Clayton (Kimberly) and Wade, grandchildren Aidan, Ashton and Oaklynn. Loraine is survived by her brothers Art (Karen), David (Coleene), sisters Joyce (Harold) Voth, Linda (Stan) Mehrer and Evelyn (Dan) Petkau. Also survived by Kim's brothers Cort, Jay, Kyle (Tania), many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, extended family and many friends.

Loraine grew up in rural Abbotsford. When the family moved to Clearbrook, she attended Clearbrook Junior where Kim and Loraine first met. Loraine started work at Golden Valley Foods in 1975, where her future mother-in-law also worked. Kim started working there in 1976. Sadly, Kim's mother, Betty, passed away in 1979 before Kim and Loraine began their loving relationship. Loraine worked at Golden Valley Foods for over 30 years. They married in 1980 and lived in Clearbrook until 1989, and then they moved to their present home in Yarrow where they raised their sons and made many great friends.

Loraine went back to school in 2008 to take courses which included First Aid Level 1, word processing, computer skills and e-mail (even though Loraine did not like to test her abilities in computers). Loraine was the first one in her graduating class to attain a job. Her new career path brought her to Hofstede's Country Barn in Chilliwack. She loved her new co-workers and enjoyed working as a cashier, greeting and meeting the customers with her infectious smile.

Loraine loved camping when possible and traveling to visit both family and friends. She also loved her jungle of plants and her houseful of "monkeys" (grandchildren). To many, she was known as "Mama Loraine" because she was such a loving person and always opened her home and heart to all that knew her. Loraine loved watching movies after coming home from work. Kim and Loraine enjoyed a quiet Saturday night watching a movie while, at the same time, she worked on a new crossword puzzle she received that day.

A Celebration of Loraine's life will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 1pm to 5pm at the Yarrow Community Hall, 4670 Community Street, Yarrow, BC.
