Kathrine (Tina) LASSESEN

December 27, 2006

Kathrine (Tina) 1909-2006

Tina of Abbotsford, B.C. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2006. Tina was born on June 10, 1909 in Logumkloster, Denmark. In 1913 she emigrated to Canada with her family, settling in Calgary, Alberta. They later moved to Vancouver in 1924. In 1942 Tina married Evald Thage Lassesen at the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vancouver, B.C. Both Tina and her husband were very active in the Danish Church. Tina was involved in the Ladies Aid, while her husband kept busy with Sunday School and serving as a Church Foreman. Tina and Evald had two sons (Erling and Kenneth) together. Even though she worked as a part-time seamstress and salesclerk, she always made sure she was there for her family first. Tina continued to live in Vancouver after her husband’s passing (1991) until 2000 when she moved to Abbotsford to live with her son Erling and his family.

She was predeceased by her husband, (Evald Thage Lassesen 1991) parents (Mikkel and Marie Nielsen 1957 and 1969) and three siblings (Hans (1987), Dagmar (2005) and Boe (1994). She is survived by her two sons Erling (Martha) and Kenneth (Laurie), Seven grandchildren (Kathryn, David, Philip, Sarah, Annica, Emmeli, Alanna) and two great-grandchildren (Joshua, Michael).

Tina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

A Memorial Service for Tina Lassesen will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Danish Lutheran Church, 6010 Kincaid St., Burnaby, BC at 1:30 pm.
