Kathleen Toews passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on December 27, 2016 at the age of 98 at Menno Home in Abbotsford, BC. Kathleen was born December 1, 1918 in Teige, Russia. She was the sixth child of seven born to Heinrich and Susanna Willms. The family immigrated to Canada in 1930 and settled in Abbotsford, BC in 1931. Kathleen graduated from MEI in 1946 and was a teacher before she married Albert Toews in August of 1950. She was predeceased by her parents Heinrich and Susanna Willms, her husband Albert Toews, her brothers Jacob and Henry, her sisters Margaret Sallis, Susanne Thielman and Mary Willms. Kathleen was known by all who knew her to be a very sweet and loving person. Always helping and caring for others and giving words of encouragement to everyone she met. She had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was continually thankful for His faithfulness in her life. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her four sons and their wives, James (Janet), Phil (Ellen), Ed (Charlene), Fred (Ann) Toews, her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her brother John (Frances) Willms and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful and compassionate care for our mother and grandmother over the past two years by the loving staff at Menno Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 1:00 pm at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
