Kathleen Elsie

Dec. 6, 1920 – Oct. 8, 2006

Kathleen Elsie Simpkin, born in Cheltenham, Gloucester, England passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2006 in Abbotsford, BC. She is survived by her twin sister, Muriel (Derrick), Golden Cross, East Sussex, England; children, Marion (Howard), Gary (Bella), Lynn (Ken), Dale (Herb) and Kathy (Steve); 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Harold in 1952 and mother, Eveline in 1986.

Mum came to Canada as a war bride in 1944 eventually settling in Winnipeg. In the mid 1950s she made the courageous decision to raise us on her own. She was actively involved in the United Church in Winnipeg, and when she moved to Aldergrove, she joined the Aldergrove United Church in 1985. Mum worked as an executive housekeeper in a nursing home in Winnipeg and retired in 1985 after 25 years of service.

She had a great sense of humour and loved lots of hugs. The family would like to thank Dr. David Froese, John Leung and Home Support for their care. Mum will be sadly missed by her family and neighbours who also were always at her side when she needed them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Aldergrove United Church, October 25, 2006 at 11:00 am followed by a light lunch. Donations in Mum’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mum, you fought the good fight, finished the race and have kept the faith. We will see you in Heaven.
