Katherine Smith Exham (nee Lammie)
1930 - 2017
Born in Edmonton, Alberta. Kay passed away peacefully in Langley, BC on May 20th. She leaves to mourn her loss her children: Linda (Dale), Janice (Brian), Bev (Art), Sharon (Don), Barb and Dave; grandchildren: Kathy Jo, Keri, Kelley, Linda Lee, Lee, Chris, Rod, Jason and Kyle and many great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by numerous friends, including those at The Cedars Assisted Living in Mission. Mom was a gifted soprano and during her earlier years her beautiful voice was heard in auditoriums, theatres and churches, whether she was competing in festivals, performing in operettas or singing for weddings or funerals. She and Dad (a talented tenor) would seek out Choral Societies and/or church choirs wherever they lived, so they could continue their musical journey together. Christmas time in our family home was filled with music; listening to mom sing O Holy Night sent tingles up one’s spine and it is a treasured childhood memory. Mom had unwavering loyalty for her beloved Edmonton Eskimos and Oilers and would playfully challenge anyone cheering for the opposing team. Mom’s humour and quick wit made her many friends throughout her life. She is predeceased by parents William Whitefield Lammie and Janet Lindsay (Waugh) Lammie, siblings Marg Abbott (Hedley) and George Lammie (Lorna) and loving husband, Fred Exham. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will occur at a future date. Special thanks to the staff at the Marrwood Residential Care Facility, Langley Hospital for their caring and support.
