Katie Falk (nee Dyck) passed away May 13, 2004 at the age of 84. Katie was born in Dolinowka, Russia to Abram and Helena Dyck. Her father was killed in the Bolshevik Revolution before Katie was born. Katie and her mother arrived in January 1924 in Canada where her mother remarried into the Klassen family. With 7 children each and two more from their marriage, there were now 16 children in the family. Katie was baptized in 1936 and moved to Yarow, B.C. in 1938.
On November 7, 1943, Katie married her childhood sweetheart, Herman Falk. Together they raised three children and over the years, cared for 52 foster children in their home.
Mom wrote that the love of her life was children and spent many hours playing with children long after her own were grown. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all those who have precious memories of her.
She dedicated her life to giving to others and was at her happiest when she could serve the Lord and those around her. Her favourite Bible verse was John 3:16.
Predeceased by her husband Herman on March 20, 1981 and her son-in-law William (Mike) Champ on March 22, 1985.
She leaves behind 3 children, Shirley Jackson (Al), Irene Jones (Jerry), Henry Falk (Grace), 10 grandchildren, Wayne Jackson(Colleen Nelthorpe), Darren Champ (Tracy Hitchcock), Keith Jackson, Tim Champ (Holly Logan), Cory Jones (Crystel Chandlier), Chris (Charmaine) Jackson, Tennille Jones, Karen Jackson, Christie & Alysha Falk and 9 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justine, Tyger, Silas, Symara, Jessica, Kyle, Steven & Harley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Vancouver Children's Hospital.
