WIENS, John

July 29, 1917 - July 19, 2009

John Wiens late of Mission passed away just prior to his 92nd birthday. He was born in Aberdeen Saskatchewan, the 12th of 13 children. John lived in Mission with his wife Eva for 63 years. Predeceased by son Irvine and grandson Rocklin, John is survived by Eva, his loving wife, and 5 children; Gilbert, James, Garry, Janice, Donna; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. John was a "Jack of all trades"; bulldozer operator, logger, fisherman, contractor and businessman. John was a proud member of the Rod and Gun Club and an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, both of which he did most of his life. He was a great cook and also enjoyed a good game of cards. He lived a wonderful life and was happiest surrounded by family and friends. He will be sorely missed, but lovingly remembered by all. A service will be held at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church in Mission at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday July 25, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation in support of Christine Morrison Hospice. The compassion of the staff at Christine Morrison Hospice and Mission Memorial Hospital will long be remembered.
