John Pankratz

On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the age of 80, John passed from this life to celebrate eternity with his Lord. John began his life on July 20, 1929 in Leroy, Saskatchewan, moving to the Ferndale area of Mission as a young boy.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his faithful and loving wife of 57 years, Wanda, 5 children and their spouses: Vern (Rita), Jo-Anne Carter (Wally), Gayle (Mark) Doerksen, Doug (Jenny), Diane (Steve) Janzen, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his sister Mary, who died as a child, parents Abram and Mary, brother Henry, and brothers-in-law Peter Rempel and Jake Olfert.

John was a gentle, kind and generous man who deeply loved the Lord. He had a great love for his family and friends, and was very dedicated in supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. He was also a life-long, active member of Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, serving many years as a deacon and a few years as pastor. John's faith in God was evident in how he lived his life, leaving a faithful and godly legacy for his family to follow. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Valley Church, 32840 Janzen Ave., in Mission.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seeds of Hope or the Gideons.
