LIIVAM, John Martin

It is with great sadness that we announce that John Martin Liivam, late of Abbotsford, BC passed away on October 14, 2010 at the age of 77 years at Royal Columbian Hospital. He was born in Eckville, Alberta on March 20, 1933 and survived by: Wife, Violet, daughters, Liisa Nessim and Melanie Liivam, son-in-law Ben Nessim and granddaughters, Erin Liivam, Laurel and Beth Nessim. Four brothers: August, George, Harold and Kenny and sister Helen Johannson. Predeceased by: Mother, Alma, father, August and brother Larry Liivam. John will be remembered for his love of music, singing, woodworking, painting and nature. He loved to teach us about the plants, rocks and wild life. He stayed happily married for 50 years. John played an active role in the Lytton B.C. Lions Club and other community service activities (eg.Justice of the Peace). Participation in bluegrass music, conducting local geology and botany tours, woodwork for fun-and-profit and trying varied experiments on the plant-life on the half-acre in Lytton, BC, kept him busy and happy until the move to Abbotsford in 2004. He then expanded his love of music to a band of his own and participation in two choirs plus seniors' sing-a-longs and twice a week jams.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home at 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
