JOHN KISSOCK

October 23, 2002

John Kissock passed away peacefully October 23, 2002 in the MSA Hospital. Mollie, his wife of 54 years, was at his side.


John was born June 22, 1925 in Kirkpatrick Fleming, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1928. They farmed at Michici, Alberta and later outside Camrose, Alberta. The family moved in 1942 to a small farm on Ross Road in Peardonville. John joined the Army in 1943 and served his country overseas during WWII with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. Upon returning from service, John and Mollie were wed and lived on Peardonville Road where they raised their family.


John worked in Brackman Kerr Milling Company, then joined the RCAF in 1955. After his term of service John returned to civilian life and worked for the Department of Transport at the Abbotsford Airport. John retired in 1988 from work at the Municipality of Matsqui.


John enjoyed raising purebred Herefords and was a long standing member of the West Coast Hereford Club. He contributed tirelessly to his community through his involvement with the Community Hall, the MSA Softball Association and the Abbotsford 4-H.


John was predeceased by his parents Peter and Winifred Kissock and his granddaughter Amy Aliesha Halstead. He is survived by his wife, Mollie (Peardon) Kissock, his three children, Lynda (Jack), Bruce (Sheri) and Carol; grandchildren Shane (Sasha), Chris (Mindy), Dawn (Chris), Jeremy, Jacob and Corey; Great granddaughter Maddison, brothers Michael and Doug and many family members and friends.


To celebrate John's life, please join his family on Wed. October 30th, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peardonville Community Hall, 29450 Huntingdon Road. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Arthritis Society of B.C. and Yukon, Suite 200 - 1645 West 7th Ave., VAncouver, B.C. V6J 1S4.


The family would like to thank the nursing staff on 2 West and the Ambulance attendants from Mt. Lehman Station for their kindness and caring concern during John's final days.
