John Jacob Wedel late of Menno Home passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on December 10, 2005 at age 95 years. He was born on January 20, 1910 in Dolinsk, Neu Samara Colony, Russia. John immigrated to Canada in 1926 and resided in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Clearbrook BC and Vancouver BC. He is predeceased by his parents and all his siblings; wife Olga (Klassen) in 1993; grandson Victor Wedel; and daughter-in-law Caroline (MacKenzie) Wedel. John is survived by his sons Ernie (Elsie) and Albert (Sherry); daughter Evelyn; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John & Louise Quiring; sister-in-laws Martha Klassen and Margaret Wedel; as well as many nieces and nephews. Viewing will take place at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford on Thursday, December 15, 2005 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surrey on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mennonite Brethren Missions Services International or the Billy Graham Ministries/Samaritan’s Purse would be appreciated.
