McRAE, John Donald

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. Born May 26, 1941 in Kamloops , BC he "exited" after a hard struggle with cancer on April 14,2009. He was predeceased by his father Dr. Charles Edmund and his mother Jessie. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary, and their children; Jenny (Gary) Perkins, Leila (Rodney) Thiessen, James (Daphne) McRae, Mary Judith (Duane) Barg, Barnaby (Aly) McRae, his sister Janet (Neil) Sutherland, his seventeen grandchildren, and the whole Penner family. John was a beacon of light for everyone who knew him; a pillar of strength for his family and friends. When we looked at John we saw Jesus. He loved and served his darling wife Mary. He loved and served his children and grandchildren. John loved and served his family and friends. He loved and served the church. All of this because he loved and served his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. John lived to teach and people loved to be taught by him. He was a highly regarded school teacher for 33 years and a much loved sessional lecturer at CBC for the past 9 years. He loved the truth. He loved Greek verb tenses. He loved dreaming up things to build and he loved building them. Especially out of cement. He loved sitting with his wife Mary every morning, for coffee and prayer. He loved fishing on the river and climbing mountains. He was a man of great wisdom and great simplicity, whose life was marked by giving.

One of John's last statements was "I love Jesus and I love His church."

The service will be at

Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 10:30 am with the burial and reception following.
