After a brief battle with cancer, it is with great sadness and joy that we announce the passing of John Bartel into the presence of our Lord on June 11, 2007 with his family at his bedside.
He was born to Jacob and Mary Bartel on November 27, 1928 in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan and was predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret, and great-grandaughter Holly Joy.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by his wife Anne of 55 years; 4 daughters, Carol (Frank Stewart), Ruth (Lard Stewart), Judy (Wes Isaac) and Gloria (Brian Unger); 11 grandchildren Jordan, Jon (Diana), Cory, Wyona (Joel), Dustin (Jennifer), Jessica, Kevin (Kristen), Jeremy (Heidi), Julie (Bryon), Daniel and Matthew; 6 great-grandchildren, Anna, Jack, Emily. Sadira, Ethan and Joshua; 6 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
John lived a full life. He enjoyed his hobbies; fishing, wood working and curling, and he immensely valued the time he spent with his family.
The memorial service will be held at Cedar Valley Mennonite church in Mission, BC on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 3:00 p.m.
