BRAICH, Jasmer Singh

"Sher"

1941 - 2009

Our family sadly announces the sudden loss of our beloved one, Jasmer Singh Braich. Commonly referred to as "Sher", he left us unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4th, 2009 at the age of 68. Sher arrived in Canada from India at the age of 18 and immediately went to work in the forestry industry and eventually into farming. Sher was a long standing pillar within the Indo-Canadian community and was actively involved with the Mission Gur Sikh Temple. He had a larger than life presence and an unwavering commitment to take care of his family and friends. In addition to his family and friends, Sher was very passionate about his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending quality time with them as they played a significant role in his life. Although he is no longer with us, we will forever feel his presence in all areas of our lives. He will always be admired, cherished, respected, missed and remain in our thoughts and in our hearts. Sher was predeceased by his father Kehar Singh, mother Amar Kaur and brother Jagdish Singh. He is survived by his wife Surinder, sons Jim (Robin), David (Rosie), daughter Channi (Steve Boparai), brother Ken (Danni), sister-in-law Jeet Kaur, sisters Jaswant (Gurdev Chahal), Satwant (Pavittar Ghuman) and Mohinder (Ranjit Bath), grandchildren Dustin, Jenna, Steven, Michael, Nya, Jaya, 15 nieces and nephews, and 9 great nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held in Abbotsford, B.C. at 1 pm on Saturday, June 13th at the Salvation Army Cascade Community Church at 35190 Delair Road, followed by prayer services at the Gur Sikh Temple at 4 pm in Mission at 32086 Lougheed Hwy.
