James

May 6, 1928 — July 30, 2005

After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much - loved husband, father and grandfather.

Jim was born May 6, 1928 in Keyes, Manitoba, the third son of six children born to Bert and Jessie McConachie. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris; daughter Kerry (Ray) of Chilliwack; brother, Ivan (Gay) of Mission; sister, Mildred Hunter of Maple Ridge; brother in law, Clarence (Terry) Johnson of Alberta; daughter in law, Eleanor of White Rock; granddaughters, Jenny, Alexandra and Dalyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his son, Brett; parents, Bert and Jessie; three brothers and their wives, Bert (Peggy), Dave (Betty) and Louis (Sharon) and brother in law, Stan Hunter.

Jim and Doris married in 1950 and settled near family in Mission. Jim started out in the Correctional Service in 1954 and in 1962, he was transferred to Campbell River to spend the next 11 years just minutes from some of the best fishing grounds he could wish for. From there, in 1973, he was transferred to Chilliwack where he was to spend his remaining years. He always had time to help others, kept his Industrial First Aid ‘A’ ticket current while contributing 25 years service as a volunteer firefighter.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

There will be no service by request. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the Mission Legion on August 11, 2005 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Jim’s name.
