James Edward Pankratz

(April 18, 1956 - May 29, 2008)

Dr. James Edward Pankratz (Dr. Jim) Solid. Steady. Patient. Intelligent. Man of unwavering faith and love for God.

Wonderful husband to wife Lori, and an amazing father to his precious children: Leanna, Katie, Emily, Steven and Jared. Loving him forever are his parents, Welma and Harry Pankratz; in-laws, Henry and Elizabeth Lepp; sister Lorraine (Clint); in-laws: Ken (Shirley); Karen; Dan (Jacqui); Rob (Charlotte); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins, friends, church and medical colleagues.

At age 3, he articulated to his mother his desire to become a doctor. Music took hold of him when he was young as his father's piano playing fascinated him. From early on he was athletic and academically inclined. He continued to enjoy playing piano; everything from Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown to his favorite hymns, and always enjoyed being involved in sports. He especially enjoyed being a cheerleader for his children as they pursued their own music, dance, and sports interests.

As a student, Jim was studious and self-motivated. He was admitted into UBC's Med school at first try, and completed his fourth year Science degree and first year pre-med simultaneously.

His established his family medical practice in Abbotsford. His career of 20 years was characterized by a genuine and caring interest in each of his patients, and a desire to use the gifts God had given him to minister to those he encountered each day.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00 am at Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Rd, Abbotsford, BC.
