Jacob “Jake” DOERKSEN

Jacob “Jake” Doerksen passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on March 18, 2006 at the age of 88 at the Menno Home, Abbotsford.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Hertha of 62 years; sons Dave (Marilyn), Les (Clara), John (Trish); daughter-in-law Edith Doerksen; grandchildren Shawn, Rachel, Camilla (Wade), Corinne, Shawn (Linzi), Kerm (Shelley), Donna (Vic), Greg (Karyn), Jeremy (Tanya), Jessie (Brittian), Cody and Lindsey; and 13 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by brother Peter (Tina) Doerksen, sisters Betty (Dave) Schulz and Agnes Nikkel, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his son Robert, granddaughter Brandi, brother John, and sister Tina Nikkel.

Jake loved his church and volunteered his time and energy with the MCC. He was a Boys Brigade leader, enjoying many adventures hiking and fishing. He was a true mentor and example to young boys. Jake was very creative and good with his hands, making wooden toys for his grand­children and the MCC.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 24 at 12:30 pm at Maclure Road Cemetery followed by a Memorial service at Bakerview M.B. Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd. Abbotsford at 2:00 pm.

Donations may be made to the MCC in memory of Jake.
