Ian Alexander McDougall

January 9, 1935 - October 11, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Alexander McDougall on October 11, 2017.

Ian was born on January 9, 1935 in Vernon, BC, and had lived in Abbotsford since 1965.

Ian was a Bagpipe instructor, judge, and mentor to many young Pipers as well as a Pipe Major for 28 years.

Ian was a member of both the Vancouver Police Department and the Matsqui Police Department, and retired as an Inspector from the Matsqui Police in 1981.

Ian was predeceased by his parents, Archibald and Janet McDougall, sister Mary Quinville, his grandson Clement, and great granddaughter Tyra.

Ian is survived by his wife Gail McDougall (nee Olson), his sister Ann Starchuk, his daughters, Heather, Cynthia, Laurel, Gwen, Bonnie, Kathleen and their respective spouses, his 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

A special thanks Dr. Kahn and Dr. Cooper, along with the nurses and staff at the renal clinic at ARH.

Please join Ian's family and friends for a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 21, at 11am, at the Cascade Community Church at 35190 Delair Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charitable foundation of your choice.
