October 5, 2004

Helen Amelia (Quaife)

(Oct 31, 1922 - Oct 5, 2004)

Helen passed away peacefully in Abbotsford, BC, MSA Cottage nursing home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Predeceased by a sister, parents Helen and Stan Quaife, and in 1996, husband George H. Williams.

Helen leaves her immediate family: sister Florence (Dave) McDuffe, Nanaimo, brother Jim (Barbara) Quaife, Abbotsford; five nieces; a nephew; and cousin Chuck (Flo), Cranbrook.

She is lovingly remembered by her step-daughter Carroll (Gordon) McKenzie, Rossland; grandchildren Ryan (Lori) Mellett, Campbell River; Randy (Tracey) Mellett, Fruitvale; Gina (Gerry) Goldhart, Calgary; great grandchildren Christopher, Jamie, Marlise Mellett, Larissa, Eric, and David Goldhart. The special friends who were always there in her time of need: Yolande (Bert), Laura (Bill), Helen (Jared), and Ken.

Born in Bulwark, Ab., Helen spent her youth in Cranbrook, moved to Vancouver to work where she remained until her marriage to George in 1956. They lived in the Trail area until George’s retirement. In 1972 they moved to the Fraser Valley.

Her home was always open and welcome to enjoy a home cooked meal accompanied by her special lemon pie. She taught us all a great deal about living, loving and laughing. We will miss her joyous greetings, “goody, goody, you are finally here!”. We love you, miss you Grandma, and you will forever be dear to our hearts.

The family thanks Dr. Wm. Chan, the pastors at NV Community Church, the palliative care staff at MSA Hospital, with special thanks to everyone at the MSA Cottage, Abbotsford.

Memorial donations may be made to your local Cancer Society or charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held in Abbotsford, October 31, Helen’s birthday, for family and invited guests.

Cremation has taken place.
