Hazel SWADDEN

May 15, 2010

SWADDEN, Hazel L.

Hazel L. Swadden, surrounded by family, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday May 15, 2010. Hazel was married for 61 years to her adoring husband John (Jack).

They had 5 children and welcomed 3 more children by marriage. She loved to spend time with and spoil her 6 grandchildren. Hazel has 2

brothers and a sister that held a special place in her heart and she was fortunate to have some very close friendships with memories she cherished till her last day. Born in Ellscott, Alberta March 20, 1929, she adopted the Lower Mainland of BC as her home at 18 years of age. Hazel lived life with devotion, and with her husband Jack they loved to travel and dance. She was equally comfortable camping and fishing as she was at a five star hotel. Few others could match her cooking, and music was important to her throughout her life. She played several instruments and comforted many with her soothing style of harmony. She had exceptional skills at many crafts, and pursued her interests until she developed macular degeneration. Family oriented, private and generous, she would do anything for the people she loved and was quick to give a heart felt hug and kiss. Hazel as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend is well loved and will be greatly missed, and though there is an empty chair where she once sat, memories of her will fill the room with love and laughter, 'til we meet her once again. A private service was held May 20,2010. In lieu of flowers donations to CNIB would be appreciated.
