Harold (Hal) Rhodes Brown

With heavy hearts, fond memories and love, we announce the sudden passing of Harold (Hal) Brown. Our family patriarch was only 15 days shy of his 91st birthday. Hal was born in Kelowna, BC and resided in Abbotsford for the past 51 years. Hal was predeceased by his parents Harold and Doris, his sister Marjorie, and brother-in-law John. Celebrating his life is his loving wife of 62 years, Louise and five children: Peter; Sandi (Dale); Linda (Dana); Roger (Jennifer) and Al (Bonnie). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Hal met Louise, the love of his life, in 1954 and won her heart in marriage in 1955. They started their family in the Vancouver area, then moved to Revelstoke, settling in Abbotsford in 1966. Hal worked for Imperial Oil all his life until his retirement in 1982. Hal was well-known in the Abbotsford community with his involvement in a number of organizations, including minor hockey, genealogy, and he was a life-long skilled bowler. Hal also took pleasure in gardening and keeping a neat yard. He always enjoyed a good party, where milestone birthdays or anniversaries were celebrated with his treasured family, and the many friends he'd accumulated over the years. He took great pride in looking after his family. He was the most positive and happy man, even when times were tough. There was no better husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His smile and laughter were infectious. He will be deeply missed by all. There will be a celebration of Hal's life on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 at Finnegan's (Phoenix Room), 33780 King Road, Abbotsford. The family wishes to extend their gratefulness to the BC Ambulance Services, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services and nurse Rebecca. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC, or a charity of your choice.
