August 23, 1927 - October 24, 2018
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear aunt, Harmina, known to family as "Tante Minnie" and friends as "Minnie". Harmina was born in Zwartsluis, Netherlands and enjoyed her life there until finding employment in Canada. Her proudest accomplishment was being employed with VeriType Canada in the 1950's, eventually appointed as the VariTyper Product Co-ordinator. She introduced phototypesetting into the business world along with producing a "Step-by-Step" training manual which was adopted by all area management involved in phototypesetting equipment. As a strong independent woman, Harmina thrived in her job, enjoying her success, her connection with co-workers and the travel which came with it.

Starting in Toronto, she eventually took a promotion to Vancouver which she loved as she thrived in the "city life". Harmina eventually took some time for herself and enjoyed a nice long retirement and filled her days with travelling, coffee at Starbucks, a burger and fries at A&W, treats at the local bakery, walking through Park Royal, riding the SeaBus, strolling through Stanley Park, down Robson Street and through Gastown. She loved shopping for her evening meals at the local grocery store and having friends over for tea while sitting on her balcony enjoying a lovely view of the Vancouver Harbour and Lions Gate Bridge. Eventually a turn in her health brought her closer to family in Abbotsford but, she still kept in contact with many friends and family from all around the globe.

Harmina is lovingly remembered by her sister, Narda Bouman, her brother-in-law, Hotze Dijkstra along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters: Henny Coenraadts and Jenny Dijkstra and her brothers-in-law, Art Bouman and Koos Coenraadts. Minnie is remembered for her many kindnesses to her extended family, her friends and her church. A small memorial service was held in her honour at Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Abbotsford. Rest in Peace and Joy, Tante Minnie, you will be missed.
