MORRIS, Gordon Dwight

Gordie passed away suddenly at home in Mission on January 5th, 2009 at the age of 65. He was born in 1944 in Vancouver. He is predeceased by his father Wesley, brother Richard and sister Elaine. Gordon is deeply missed by his wife of 28 years, Sandra, sons Mark and Chris, mother Martha Blenkarn (Keith), brothers Ed (Nadine), Stefan, Clifford, Elden and Calvin, sister Carol (Harvey), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gordie moved to Mission in 1979, and married Sandra in 1981. As a young man Gordie travelled the world on merchant ships. He later worked in rinks and recreation centres, and car service and sales, but his most challenging and rewarding years were spent as a foster parent. In retirement a day was not complete without at least one visit to Tim Horton’s to spend time with his wonderful friends. He proudly wore shorts all year long, loved to talk, and expected to share a smile and laugh with everyone he saw. Gordie was a proud father, loyal friend, and devoted husband. He was a good man with deep love for the people in his life.

A celebration of Gordie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at 1:00 pm in Thornhill Hall at 26007 – 98th Ave. Maple Ridge, V2W 1T3. Please join us in sharing our favorite memories.
