Giong Van TRAN

Giong Van, late of Abbotsford, BC, passed away peacefully at MSA hospital on July 9, 2007 at the age of 64 years. He was predeceased by his mother Vu Thi Noi on January 18, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Le Thi Mai, 8 children: Don (Tammy), Ken (Joy), Henry (Linda), Mai (Bao), Hai (Tracey), Phong (Chau), Loan (Mike), Sang (Tammy), 14 grandchildren, ­sister Hoa Tran (Abbotsford), ­brothers Uy Van Tran, Thu Van Tran (Vietnam), uncle Bien Van Vu (Denver), and extended family and friends.

In Vietnam, he was a successful business man and wanted to provide a better life for his family in Canada. Giong came to Canada as a Vietnamese refugee in 1983 and it took 6 years before his wife and children were all reunited. He instilled the value of hard work and determination which are evident in all his children. Giong’s life revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren.

Giong enjoyed spending time gardening, tending to his flowers, bonsai trees, and fish. He remained active within St. Anne’s Church as a Knight of Columbus and worked with other charitable organizations.

Viewing will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, B.C. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, July 15, 2007 7:00 pm at St. Annes Roman Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave, Abbotsford, B.C. Funeral service will be held at St. Annes on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 12:00 noon, with Christian Burial to follow at Valleyview Memorial Gardens, 146-72nd Ave, Surrey, B.C.

He will be forever missed by his family and friends. Forever love Ong, Con Cua Ba.
