LEAMING It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather,

Gerald William Leaming on January 14, 2008 at Menno Hospital in Abbotsford B.C. Jerry was born November 12, 1920 in Minnedosa, Manitoba, to Harry and Rose Ann Leaming. He was a tank gunner in Three Rivers Tank Regiment during World War II, serving four years in Italy and Europe. Jerry married Evelyn Goldstone on February 25, 1941 in Brandon, Manitoba. They moved to Kenora, Ontario in 1956, where they raised their family. Jerry ran his own barbershop in Kenora until retirement.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, joining in 1946 at Branch 3 in Brandon Manitoba. He was a member of Branch 12 in Kenora, from 1956 until he moved to Abbotsford and joined Branch 15 in 1999. Jerry received many awards including the highest award available, The Palm Leaf and the second highest honor The Meritorious Service Medal. He served as branch president from 1970 to 1971 and 1973 to 1974. He was also was District 7 Commander and Deputy Zone Commander.

Jerry was predeceased by his wife Evelyn on April 15, 1999 and his daughter Marilyn’s late husband, Tom Scott on April 26, 2004. He is survived by his daughters Marilyn ( Ron) Richardson, Joan Burwash; granddaughter Jennifer (Mike) Yachney; grandson Tyler Ralko; two great-grandsons, Joshua and Matthew; one great-granddaughter, Katelin; brother Stan Leaming; sister Barbara Aaron and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jerry was a loving family man and friend to all and will be missed greatly by all whose lives he has touched.

A Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Crescent East, Abbotsford B.C. on February 16, 2008 at 11:00 am

Interment of his cremated remains will take place in Brandon Manitoba in May 2008.
