Marty worked for 35 years as a nursing aid at the Provincial Hospital in Ponoka, Alberta, and upon retirement, moved with wife Vivian to Abbotsford, BC in 1984, where they enjoyed many years of volunteer work in Home Care and with the MSA Hospital. Together with Vivian since 1975, they were inseparable during all of their daily routines and would frequently be seen around Abbotsford at their favorite Tim Hortons, or performing visitations at local facilities for the sick and elderly. Marty was always proud of their involvement in community organizations in both Alberta and BC. They shared a life time full of memories and happiness and never stopped giving back to their community. The family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers that helped Dad on his journey through the past 6 years, as he suffered with Alzheimer’s. Remembering that his quiet, gentle soul was cherished by all that had the opportunity to know or meet him, he will be dearly missed and not forgotten. An outdoor Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Forest Home Cemetery in Ponoka, Alberta. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would like you to remember and thank all of the caregivers that work so hard to take care of our loved ones, each and every day.
