Predeceased by husband Ken Honkawa in December of 2003 and her brother Roy Yoneda in February of 2004. She is lovingly remembered by her son George, daughter-in-law Sunok, and daughter Reiko Cheryl.

Survived by her brothers George (Yoshika) Yoneda and Minoru (Mary) Yoneda; sisters Hiroko (Tony) Nasu and Kimiye (Saburo) Yamamoto in Japan; sister-in-law Yaeko Yoneda; brothers-in-law Hiroshi (Ruth) Honkawa, Tak Honkawa; sisters-in-law Masae (Kunio) Yoshizawa, Fusae Nishimura; nieces, Lynn (Greg) Smith, Toshi (Kelvin) Dyck; nephew Arni (Marsha) Honkawa; and many more nieces and nephews.

Fumi was the third eldest of six children of Tatsuichi and Haruko Yoneda.

Fumi was a wonderful loving mother, a hard working, energetic, active outgoing lady, one who was active in her church, she enjoyed meeting people, and conversing with neighbours. She enjoyed getting out and shopping for bargains. She was a terrific cook, and even though it meant a lot of work she enjoyed preparing and supervising the New Year’s Day feast for relatives and friends. She was always interested in learning new things and had a passion for sewing. Even in her early seventies before her stroke, she was still enthusiastic to attend night school sewing and cooking classes.

Our thanks to family and friends for their love, caring and support. Many thanks to Worthington Pavilion staff members for their care of Mom over the past 2-1/2 years.

A memorial service in her memory will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday October 29, 2004 at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660-72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC. Flowers and Koden are gratefully declined in favor of donations in Fume’s memory to the Heart & Stoke Foundation of BC & Yukon or the Fraser Valley Buddhist Church.
