It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie Friesen on December 3, 2016 in Mission, BC. He was born November 9, 1928 in Landmark, Manitoba to Jacob P. and Agatha (Willms) Friesen. When he was 14 they moved to BC settling in Arnold. He married Rita Braun on August 21, 1949 and moved to Vancouver. Here he worked as a delivery man, mechanic and finally in real estate for Block Bros. Realty. They were active in the Fraserview MB church and lived in Vancouver for many years until Rita became ill. They moved back to Abbotsford in 1993. They made many new friends and re-connected with old ones. They enjoyed travelling to Hawaii. They were very involved with their grandchildren. He is predeceased by Rita (2003), his brother Gus and sister Ellie. Left to mourn are his children Mary Ann (Ernie), Eric, daughter-in-law Arnette, grandchildren: Melissa (Sheldon), Ryan (Rav), Angie (Steve) and Meghan as well as 8 great-grandchildren. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff at The Residence in Mission for the wonderful care of Ernie. Also a special thank-you to Dad’s special angels Tom, Lucy, Myrna and Heather for their loving care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:30 am at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Road in Abbotsford.
