BURR, Erich

Erich Burr, born January 28, 1922 in Nordenham, Germany passed away peacefully at Queens Park Care Center on January 28, 2009 with Jean and Janice at his bedside. Erich was predeceased by his wife P Marguerite (MacCloskie) in 1971. Erich is fondly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife of 18 years, Jean (Froese): his children and their families: son Eric (Lori) Burr (Surrey) and Eric's children Amanda and Ashley; daughter Marguerite (Dan) Csikos (Vancouver) and Marguerite's children Megan and Anthony; daughter Elisabeth (Dieter) Gerjets (Germany) and Elisabeth's children Janna, Ute and Amke; and Erich's great-grandchildren Bennet and Carolin. Also sadly missed by step-children: Gerald (Dianne) Froese and Janice Froese (Ron Hooge) and Janice's children Graydon and Alyssa.

Upon completion of high school Erich joined the Merchant Marine and was on training in Britain when WW2 broke out. The war years left a lasting impression on Erich that stayed with him until his death. Erich immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he landed in Quebec and worked in the mines. He moved to Kitimat in 1954 and began his Alcan career as a raise miner building the "penstocks" on the Kemano Electric project eventually becoming the foreman of the potlines and retired in 1979 from Alcan's training dept. Upon leaving Kitimat, he lived in Terrace, Duncan, Abbotsford and Coquitlam making great friends where ever he was.

The family would like to thank Ursula and the staff of the Residences at Belvedere for making Erich's life easier in his final months.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at The Residences at Belvedere located at 750 Delestre Avenue, Coquitlam, at 1:30 pm
