He will be dearly missed and remembered by all his family. Born in Stettler, Alberta on April 27, 1908, moved to Kamloops with his parents in 1911. Worked at the Iron Mask and Stump Lake Mines in 1920’s and 1930’s. Was the Chief Diesel Operator at the Merritt Power Plant with both the city of Merritt and BC Hydro. Transferred with BC Hydro to Quesnel as Supervisor of their Diesel Generating Station. Transferred to Prince George in same capacity then became Substation Supervisor. Retired to Surrey, BC and later moved to Merritt. Was Alderman for City of Merritt in the 1950’s. Was held in high regard for his diesel operating and mechanical skills. Predeceased by wife Edna, December 12, 1981, daughter Lois, January 6, 1989, brother Toby and sisters, Louise, Dorothy and Laura. Survived by daughter Colleen Nelson-Smith (Abbotsford), son, Ramon Emmerich, daughter in-law, Shirley (Merritt), sister Alice Henderson (Vancouver), plus 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Menno Hospital for their continuous loving care. There will be no service by request.
