Emanuel Nicolaas (Mike) SNYDERSÂ

It is with great sadness I announce the passing of my dear husband, father and grandfather, Emanuel Nicolaas (Mike) Snyders on July 16, 2006. Mike was born on August 8, 1931 in Wognum, North Holland. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise; his sons, Nick (Leslie), Mike (Rita), Ed (Julie) and Patrick; his grandchildren, Nicole, Paula, Theresa, Michael and Mac as well as two brothers and two sisters in Holland and one brother in Australia. Mike came to Canada in 1954 from Holland to Calgary, he saw the mountains of BC and wanted to go west. He met Louise in Kamloops in 1955. They were married and moved to Mission in 1959. Mike worked in the forest industry, joined the Mission Volunteer Fire Department in 1962 and was also a paramedic on the weekends for the Mission Ambulance Service. Mike survived a near fatal accident in 1997 and was taken care of by his loving family for the last 9 years.

Prayers will be offered on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 7:30 pm at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne Street, Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 32550 Seventh Avenue, Mission, BC on Friday, July 21, 2006 at 12:00 noon with Father Wilfred Gomes and Father Richard Au as Celebrants.

A sincere thank you to the ­doctors, nurses and staff of Mission Memorial Hospital with special thanks to Dr. Barnsdale, Christine Morrison Hospice staff, and one special nurse. God bless you all – the Snyders family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice, 7324 Hurd Street, Mission, BC V2V 3H5.
