May 16, 1931 - October 11, 2024

It is with sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on October 11, 2024, at North Island Hospital in Campbell River, BC.

Betty was born in Matsqui Village on May 16, 1931, to Walter and Mabel Adams. She was the middle child of three children. She is predeceased by her father and mother, her husband Murray Mitchell, her son Darryl Wilson, and her stepson David Mitchell. She is survived by her older sister Edith Renouf, her younger brother Gerald Adams, her daughter Wendy (Blair) Crowhurst, her stepchildren Paul (Linda) Mitchell, Doug (Carol) Mitchell and Corinne (Rob) Gaw, and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty began her working career at the Royal Bank in Mission, BC. She then moved to Prince George, where she worked in the forest service, later returning to Abbotsford where she worked for the Abbotsford School Board. In 1975, Betty began a teaching career in the Office Careers Department at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford. She received her instructor's certificate in 1978 and retired in 1996, having never taken a sick day.

After retiring, Betty and Murray moved to Vancouver Island, eventually settling in Campbell River to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was extremely devoted to her family. Her sharp mind and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her uncanny ability to recall dates and events from her life was extraordinary.

Betty will be inurned in a private ceremony in the Adams Family plot in Hazelwood Cemetery in Abbotsford.

Donations in Betty's memory can be made to the University of the Fraser Valley Applied Business Technology Program.
