Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty), late of Abbotsford, passed away on March 3, 2007 at age 91 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivar in 1990, and her infant son, Ronnie, 1947. Remembered by her children Doris (Dale) Richier of Penticton, Sigurd (Deanna) Dahl of Courtenay, Ingrid (Murray) Reimer of Abbotsford, Bernie (Deborah) Dahl of Victoria, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Born in the late evening on May 16, 1915 in a sod shack on the Saskatchewan prairies, she survived the 1918 flu epidemic and, as early pioneers, homesteaded the prairie lands with her parents and siblings. In 1933, she married a neighboring Norwegian bachelor, Ivar Dahl, and together they homesteaded a section of land. They struggled through the 30s and early 40s on their wheat farm. In the spring of 1946 they moved to Abbotsford where they farmed and Ivar built houses. Betty worked on the farm and raised her family. In later years she was active in the 5 pin bowling association, AOAP, and the Old Time Fiddlers Association. She loved to garden, travel, and be surrounded by her family and friends.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC on April 14, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Internment will be at Musselwhite Cemetery, Abbotsford.
