Edward Joseph O’REILLY

May 30, 2005

Edward Joseph, born in Belfast, Ireland June 30, 1929, died in Abbotsford May 30, 2005, in the arms of his beloved wife of 48 years, Dorothy, and surrounded by his children, during the recitation of the Rosary.

Edward is preceded in death by his dear sister Carmel, and his brothers Tony and Myles. He is survived by his brother Seamus and sisters Maureen, Nancy, Phyllis, Sr. Kathleen, Stella, Roisin and Stephanie. Our patriarch leaves behind children: Christine, Stephen (Mary), Paul (Peggy), Kevin (Lise), Carmel (Arthur), Lorraine (John), David (Angelica), Mark, Ann, Shane (Julie), Peter, Olivia, and 60 grandchildren.

Edward was devoted to the two great loves of his life: his Catholic faith and his family. A man of intelligence, wit, and prayer, he was always ready to take risks and forge his own path. He left his native Ireland at 18. During his first career he pioneered the co-operative program at Mohawk college in Ontario. Later, he established a thriving restaurant franchise to better support his growing family. Finally, in a great venture of faith and seeking a healthier environment for his children, he headed to Bella Coola where he founded Stella Maris Resources, a logging company. His final 20 years were spent in Abbotsford where he was an active member of both St. Ann’s and Divine Mercy Parishes, and was a loving, inspiring grandpa.

Prayers will be Thursday, June 2 at 7:00 pm at St. Ann’s; the Requiem Mass will be sung there on Friday, June 3 at 11:00 am at St. Ann’s followed by a reception.

Internment will be at Gardens of Gethsemane.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward’s name may be sent to Our Lady of Clear Creek Monastery (www.clearcreekmonks.org) or The Fraternity of St. Peter (www.fssp.com)

May Eternal Light

Shine Upon Him
