Dr. Elmer “Al” James YOUNG

Dr. Elmer “Al” James Young of Abbotsford, BC died with dignity and courage on August 22, 2005 after a lengthy illness.

Left with special memories are his family: his loving wife Edie; brother Howard (Hazel) of Red Deer, Alberta; daughters Susan and Gena (John) MacKenzie of Vancouver; son Gordon (Jackie) of Ottawa; step-daughters Fay (Jim) Breedlove of Selah, Washington and Sandra (Monte) Reese of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Regan (Dan Rankin) and Stephanie MacKenzie, Dan and Daryl Young, Tana (Troy) Sykes, and Travis Breedlove; and great grandchildren Kale and Koen Sykes. He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie in 1974 and brother Ross in 1996.

Born in Lacombe, Alberta on January 27, 1922 he served in World War II as a pilot and Flight Commander. Following graduation from Guelph Veterinary College in 1950, he enjoyed a distinguished career with the Canadian Health of Animals Branch.

A kind and generous man, he loved his family deeply. He thoroughly enjoyed his many friends and neighbours, and his hobbies and trips.

A special part of his life was his Fraternal association as a Master Mason & a Shriner. Participating in the good work of these orders and enjoying the fellowships of its members brought him great pleasure.

A VERY SPECIAL MAN

He will be laid to rest at Musselwhite Cemetery during a private family service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the “Gizeh Transportation Fund”, c/o Gizeh Shrine Temple, 3550 Wayburne Drive, Burnaby, BC V3G 3K9 will be greatly appreciated.

The family extend sincere appreciation to Dr. A. Chafe, Vi and office staff, and to the caring staff of Ebenezer Home.
