Dorothy Jean, in her 91st year, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on Sunday, October 24, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Porter (2002), her sister Muriel and her dear cousin Marjorie. She leaves behind her beloved daughter Ann and son-in-law Ron DeLair; her grandchildren: Lindsay (Jerry) and Drew (Eileen); and great-grandchildren: Thompson, Jewell, Dani and Annabel.

In 1943, Dorothy, Porter and their only child, Ann, moved to British Columbia from Saskatchewan where Dorothy had taught in a series of one-room schools. The family settled in Abbotsford in 1949 and Dorothy taught for many years at Abbotsford Junior High School. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed sewing, weaving, entertaining, traveling and weekends at Whidbey Island.

Dorothy, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend will be remembered for her life-long love of teaching and learning, her creativity and her sense of fun! She loved her life and all the people in it. Her spark will be sadly missed.

The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Worthington Extended Care Hospital who enjoyed Dorothy's spirit and took such good care of her during the last six years. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford.
